GeoGenie vs Profound: An Honest Comparison

Reviewed August 2026 · maintained by GeoGenie Marketing · reviewed quarterly

    The short version

Profound is an enterprise-tilted AEO platform with impressive breadth - visibility monitoring, AI prompt-demand data, server-log bot analytics, and no-code marketing agents - and it fits large teams with the budget for a custom Enterprise plan. GeoGenie is built around a tighter measure-and-fix loop - every tracked prompt leads to a diagnosis, a brief, a draft, and (where it makes sense) an actual paid placement through our Publisher Network - and it fits teams that want the full loop on self-serve terms with a 5-day free trial.

Everything we say about Profound below comes from their own website as of August 2026. Features and pricing change; verify current details with the vendor.

    What Profound does well

Profound positions itself as a full-stack marketing platform organized into Monitor, Create, and Operate layers. That's not empty framing - there is a distinct product behind most of it:

Answer Engine Insights tracks brand visibility score, share of voice, citations, sentiment, and competitor presence daily, sliceable by date, region, language, and platform. Their Enterprise tier lists nine engines, from ChatGPT and Perplexity to Grok and DeepSeek.

Prompt Volumes mines keyword volumes and intent signals from millions of AI conversations - genuinely useful demand data that classic SEO tools don't have.

Agent Analytics is technically strong: server-log-based AI crawler tracking with no JavaScript tag, spoof verification, and eight-plus pre-built CDN/edge connectors (Cloudflare, Fastly, AWS, Akamai, and others).

Agents and Aim add a no-code agent builder for content generation and refresh, plus an orchestration layer that surfaces prioritized opportunities and writes data-backed briefs.

Enterprise readiness is documented on-site: SOC 2 Type II, SSO (SAML/OIDC), RBAC, GDPR compliance, and dedicated Slack support with a 24-hour SLA.

A deep case-study library with quantified outcomes for brands like MongoDB, Ramp, and Zapier.

    What GeoGenie does differently

GeoGenie's core belief is that monitoring alone doesn't move your numbers - the loop from measurement to fix has to close inside one workflow. (More on why monitoring-only falls short.) Concretely:

Per-prompt diagnosis, not just dashboards. Action Suggestions analyzes the real citations behind every tracked prompt and buckets them into On-site, Off-site, and UGC, enriched with site-crawl signals - is the relevant page orphaned, under-linked, missing a canonical? It then recommends the specific fix: refresh an existing page, create a new brief, or pursue a placement on a cited domain.

From brief to finished draft. Recommendations flow into fully editable briefs in ActionsGenie, which pull in real citations, and the Article Generator turns a brief into a complete GEO-optimized draft in your brand voice - guided by Content Guidelines you set once.

Placement execution, not just pitch lists. Through our Publisher Network (our WhitePress partnership is public), GeoGenie can execute off-site placements on domains that AI engines already cite. We found no mention of a publisher network or paid placement execution on Profound's site as of August 2026; earned-media items in their Aim product are surfaced as recommended tasks for the customer to execute.

Bot analytics tied to revenue. BotsGenie tracks AI bots at the CDN log level (Cloudflare, Vercel, Fastly) and classifies bot intent as Citation, Indexing, or Training. Its revenue funnel overlays GA4 to connect the chain: bots crawl → AI cites → humans visit → sessions and revenue attributed per AI platform.

An eight-tool loop on self-serve terms. ContextGenie, PromptsGenie, MonitoringGenie, Action Suggestions, CitationsGenie, ActionsGenie, SiteGenie, and BotsGenie work as one loop, plus an official read-only MCP server for your own AI assistants. Everything is on a 5-day free trial - no demo call required.

When Profound is the better choice

We'd rather you pick the right tool than pick us for the wrong reasons. Profound likely fits better if:

    • You're a large enterprise with an enterprise budget. Their strongest capabilities - nine-engine coverage, ChatGPT Shopping, Aim projects, Prompt Volumes searches, API access, SSO, multiple languages and regions - sit on their custom Enterprise plan, and their own FAQ steers teams over three people there.

    • You're a retail or DTC brand that needs SKU-level shopping visibility. Their ChatGPT Shopping module (attribute accuracy, trigger rates, checkout-share analysis) has no equivalent in GeoGenie today.

    • AI prompt-demand data is central to your strategy. Prompt Volumes draws on conversation data at a scale they quote as 10M+ prompts analyzed daily.

    • You need documented enterprise compliance now. SOC 2 Type II, SSO/RBAC, and a 24-hour support SLA are published on their site.

    • You value ecosystem and education. Profound University, the Zero Click conferences, and the Profound Index benchmarks are genuine investments in the category.

    When GeoGenie fits better

    • You want the fix executed, not just recommended. Of the two, only GeoGenie advertises actually placing content on cited third-party domains through a publisher network, rather than handing you a pitch list.

    • You want the full loop without an enterprise sales cycle. Profound publishes self-serve tiers at $99 and $399 per month (billed yearly, per their pricing page), but by their own tier table those plans track one to three engines with 50–100 prompts, one language, and one region, with key products gated to Enterprise. GeoGenie's eight-tool loop is self-serve with a 5-day free trial.

    • You need revenue attribution per AI platform out of the box. BotsGenie's GA4 revenue funnel connects crawls to citations to sessions to revenue in one view.

    • You care about per-prompt actionability. Our own July 2026 tracking - 2,694 AI-engine runs across five platforms - taught us that averages hide everything; wins and losses happen prompt by prompt, exactly the level Action Suggestions works at.

    Frequently asked questions

Is Profound better than GeoGenie for enterprises?

For large enterprises needing SOC 2 Type II, SSO/RBAC, nine-engine coverage, and shopping-visibility analysis, Profound's Enterprise plan is a strong fit. GeoGenie's advantage is closing the measure-to-fix loop - including placement execution and GA4 revenue attribution - without enterprise gating.

Does Profound execute off-site placements like GeoGenie's Publisher Network?

Not that they advertise. As of August 2026, we found no mention of a publisher network or paid placement execution on their site; Aim surfaces earned-media pitches as tasks for the customer to execute. GeoGenie executes placements directly through its Publisher Network, including the public WhitePress partnership.

How do the free trials compare?

GeoGenie offers a 5-day free trial across the platform. Profound's pricing page shows a "Try for free" option on its Growth plan, but no trial length is stated anywhere on the page as of August 2026.

Do both platforms track AI bots without a JavaScript tag?

Yes, both work from CDN/server logs. Profound's Agent Analytics ships 8+ CDN connectors and spoof verification; GeoGenie's BotsGenie sets up via a roughly 5-minute Cloudflare Worker, classifies bot intent, and overlays GA4 to attribute sessions and revenue per AI platform.

Can I connect either platform to my own AI assistant?

Both advertise MCP servers. Profound lists its MCP server and REST API in its developer docs, with API access gated to Enterprise per its pricing table. GeoGenie provides an official read-only MCP server, with tokens in Settings → Integrations.
