Understanding Agent Analytics
Agent Analytics shows AI bot activity on your website — what AI agents are doing with your content and why. It runs independently from the rest of the GeoGenie workflow and complements all other products with CDN-level bot intelligence.
Why Agent Analytics exists
Traditional web analytics tools like GA4 rely on in-browser JavaScript to track visitors. AI agents don't use browsers — they make direct HTTP requests to your site. This means GA4 is completely blind to AI agent traffic. You can't see when ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini, or any other AI system visits your site, reads your content, or cites your pages.
Agent Analytics fills this blind spot by reading CDN network logs (Cloudflare, Vercel, Fastly) to capture every HTTP request from AI systems.
The three bot intent types
Agent Analytics classifies every verified bot visit into one of three intent types:
Citation (Highest Signal)
Your content is being actively used to answer a live user's question. This is the highest-signal bot activity — it means an AI engine is pulling from your page right now to construct a response for a real person.
Citation visits directly correlate with your Citation Rate % in MonitoringGenie. If Agent Analytics shows high citation activity on specific pages, those pages are actively contributing to your AI visibility.
Indexing (Discovery)
Your content is being cataloged for future use. This is the AI equivalent of web crawling — similar to how Googlebot indexes pages for traditional search. Indexing visits mean AI systems are discovering and storing your content, but not necessarily using it in live answers yet.
Consistent indexing activity is a positive signal — it means AI systems are aware of your content and keeping it in their retrieval systems. Low indexing activity on important pages may indicate crawlability issues that SiteGenie can help diagnose.
Training (Long-Term Improvement)
Your content is being read to enhance the underlying AI model itself. Training visits mean your content is influencing how an AI system understands your category over time — contributing to the model's base knowledge rather than answering a specific query.
Agent Analytics vs. GA4
The two tools serve complementary purposes:
- Agent Analytics shows the input side: what AI is crawling, indexing, and citing from your site
- GA4 shows the output side: what humans do after an AI system directs them to your site
For a complete picture of AI-driven traffic, use both. Agent Analytics tells you which content AI is using. GA4 tells you which referrals from AI are driving human visitors and conversions.
How Agent Analytics connects to other products
Agent Analytics runs independently but its data complements the entire GeoGenie workflow:
- MonitoringGenie tracks your brand's visibility in AI answers. Agent Analytics shows whether AI bots are actually visiting your site to construct those answers.
- CitationsGenie identifies citation gaps. Agent Analytics confirms whether AI bots are visiting the pages you expect them to cite.
- SiteGenie audits your site's AI crawlability. Agent Analytics validates whether the technical improvements SiteGenie recommends are resulting in increased bot activity.
